Seminar «Academic Experience Exchange: Ukraine-Germany»
On March 16-17, 2023, FAU and PACT4Ukraine Project welcomed a delegation from the State University of Trade and Economics (Kyiv) comprising Prof. Dr. Anzhelika Gerasymenko, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, Dr. Ellana Molchanova, Head of Department of Grant Projects, Prof. Dr. Yuliia Honcharova, Dean of Faculty of International Trade and Law, Prof. Dr. Natalia Mazaraki, Head of the Department of International, Civil and Commercial Law, as well as Prof. Dr. Iryna Rudnieva who represented Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.
During the two-day program, representatives from Ukrainian universities were able to talk about:
- important issues of bilateral cooperation with Kira Gehrmann, Head of FAU International Department, and Kerstin Sommer, Head of the FAU Welcome Center;
- general procedure for obtaining doctoral degrees and postdoctoral studies, as well as double supervision of the PhD students with Dr. Elena Zeißler, representative of the Office of Research Career Development and Graduate Center, FAU;
- the peculiarities of obtaining doctoral degrees in Economics and Law with Dr. Peter Wehnert, Deputy Head of Research Management at the School of Business, Economics and Society, FAU.
During the Round Table on “FAU Collaboration with Ukrainian Universities”, the PACT4Ukraine Project team and Personal Advisor to Vice President Outreach Alexander Stiller talked about activities that have been done and are being done to create an academic corridor for Ukrainian students and teachers and reduce the risk of a brain drain from Ukraine. In their turn, representatives of Ukrainian universities expressed their expectations of bilateral cooperation at the academic, staff, and student levels.
At the same time, Ukrainian guests were also able to meet and talk with representatives from other European universities, who were at FAU in the framework of Erasmus+ Staff Week.
