The second day of the International Conference “State-building in the face of crisis: challenges and lessons learned” was dedicated to the issue of “Preserving and developing cultural heritage in times of conflict”. The Conference brought together a diverse range of perspectives, shedding light on the importance of preserving and promoting Ukrainian cultural heritage as a crucial component of national identity and resilience.

Participants, including renowned scholars, and civil activists, engaged in insightful discussions on the role of cultural heritage in the face of crisis and its impact on the overall state-building process. Thus, among the key speakers was Dr. Vadym Zolotaryov, a guest researcher at FAU Chair of Modern and Contemporary History with a focus on the history of Eastern Europe, and Dr. Maria Parkhomanko, a full researcher at FAU Chair of Modern and Contemporary History with a focus on the history of Eastern Europe. Both speakers not only raised historical issues, but also drew attention to the interdisciplinary research they are conducting and the efforts they are making to disseminate information about the true history of Ukraine. The panel discussion was significantly contributed by Dr. Serhii Kokin, Senior Researcher at the Institute of History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Moreover, during the panel discussion Kateryna Chebotarova, a civil activist, influencer, and representative of the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, shared her inspiring initiatives dedicated to amplifying Ukrainian culture and history in Nuremberg-Erlangen. Harnessing the power of social media and digital platforms, Ms. Chebotarova described how she has successfully reached a wide audience.

The PACT4Ukraine Project is committed to extending its efforts to contribute significantly to the dissemination and appreciation of Ukraine’s rich cultural peculiarities and history. The initiative aims to go beyond the conventional boundaries, actively engaging in outreach programs, events, and educational activities that showcase the depth and diversity of Ukrainian culture. By doing so, the Project aspires to foster a broader understanding and appreciation of Ukraine’s heritage, thereby strengthening cultural ties and promoting a more interconnected global community.
